2012 RAVE U-16 Coaches
Dori and Jacque Brown "our coaching sister combo" grew up in a family of three girls that all played volleyball during high school and club. Two of the sisters went on to play college volleyball at Eastern Washington University (EWU). Their mother played college volleyball so volleyball was the number one pastime for the girls from the small town of Waterville, WA.
Dorian (Brown) Byrd:
Dori was the only member of the family that did not pursued sports in college. She passed on a number of college scholarships in both basketball and volleyball. Instead Dori, number one in her class, pursued her professional dream at WSU.
Dori, continued to be involved in volleyball while attending college in Pullman. She was the U16 RAVE head coach last year and was involved in the Cheney School District volleyball program. This year she is the Assistant Head Coach at Medical Lake High School.
Dori's success in sports, academics and business will provide the girls with a great role model to learn what can be achieved through hard work, dedication and sportsmanship.
Jacque (Brown) Bassett:
Jacque, has been involved with volleyball for over 10 years as both a player and coach. From 2007 - 2011 she played at EWU in the position of outside hitter. Her senior year at EWU Jacque was elected to be the team captain. Prior to her college playing days she played high school and club volleyball in the Wenatchee area.
Jacque's coaching experience includes serving as an assistant to EWU's head coach Miles Kydd as co-head coach of Splash U14 in 2010. In 2010 Jacque served as the Camp Director for EWU's annual summer camp. Further coaching experience was gained when she coached the U12 section of the EWU summer camp. During summers while attending EWU she would travel with the EWU coaching staff to put on high school camps around the state. This is her first year with RAVE Club Volleyball and will be co-head coach with her sister Dori for the RAVE U16 team.
